Tears for Fears: Live in Cebu!!

August 12, 2012

I FINALLY got to see one of my all-time favourite bands live!! I honestly thought I wouldn't get a chance to see them play live..ever. What are the odds that they would play in a city as small as Cebu?!

They opened with 'Everybody Wants to Rule the World,' which I thought was absolutely perfect! I nearly lost my mind screaming when the first note played. I'm a little sad that they didn't play as many of their old songs as I thought they would (no Woman in Chains...*tear), but it was still so much fun. A lot of my parent's friends were there, and they were all surprised at mine and my sister's excitement, and concluded that we were probably born in the wrong decade.

Majority of the fans have aged and no longer exhibit wild concert behaviour, but come on, this is an exception! They are, after all, Tears for Fears! There were a handful of younger kids dancing by the stage, though. I did manage to squeeze past them to the centre aisle and take some photos with my film Canon AT-1. I swear, Roland smiled when he saw the Asian kid with the vintage camera at the foot of the stage (me), I swear he did.

It's been so long since I've hung out with these girls!! We were schoolmates for the longest time, but only really got to know each other during a study tour to China in 2006. Best roommates you could ever ask for. Candy and Natalie from the room next door were at lunch, too, except I failed to take their photos. :(

A Day in the Life

Flew home to Cebu for a month's vacation before a new school year starts. Life here is quite laid-back relative to other cities.

We spent the afternoon La Marea, a cafe nearby. Their Warm Brownie Cup is amazing. I can't say the same for the Irish Cream, though I was never one for alcoholic beverages. I initially thought it was just really, really terrible coffee until my younger sister told me what was in it! #facepalm
